Ann Jane Chettle - 1st Daughter Of George Rodney and Ann

Baptised - 1831 22nd September at St Nicholas, Church Leicester.
Home - The Family lived in Bridge Street, West Bridge, Leicester.
Moved - Between late 1833 to 1836 the Family moved to London.
1841 Census - Aged 9 living at Eyre Street Hill, St Andrews, East Holborn, London. In 1850 aged 18/19 she remained in London when her Family moved bak to Leicester.
Witness - 1853 November 26th, Ann Jane was a Witness at the Wedding of her Sister Eliza, at St Pancras Church.
1851 Census - No record has yet been found of Ann Jane on the 1851 Census. It is likely that she was in Leicester around 1861.

Marriage - 1868, aged 36 April 12th at All Saints Church, Leicester to William Chettle, who was the Second Cousin of her Father George Rodney Chettle. It was a double Wedding with William Chettle's Sister, Louisa Chettle Marrying John Arnold. The entry in the All Saints Register for Ann Jane's wedding is most unusual as both of the Fathers are called George Rodney Chettle.

William Chettle Served 15 years 185 days in the 11th Hussars and may have been present at the charge of the Light Brigade. He served in Turkey and the Crimea for 2 years. Conduct, "very good," and in possession of two Good Conduct badges.

He is entitled to the Crimean medal with clasps for Alma, Sebastopol and the Turkish medal.


The Chettle Double Wedding Marriage Certificate with the two George Rodney Chettle Fathers. These George Rodney Chettle's were second cousins.

1871 Census - Aged 39 living at 35 Burgess Street, Leicester with her Husband and the three Daughters of her Brother Frederick.
Children - 1870 aged 39, December 3rd Leicester, a Daughter Catherine.
Burial - 1871 March 2nd Catherine Chettle aged 3 months at Welford Road Cemetery, Leicester.
Children - 1872 aged 40, Sept Qtr, George Rodney Chettle at Leicester.
Baptism - June 27th George Rodney Chettle at All Saints Church, Leicester.
1881 Census - Aged 49, living at 35 Burgess Street, Leicester, with Husband, Son and her Father, George Rodney Chettle aged 72. He died at this address in 1882.

1891 Census - No record on this census for Burgess Street. Her Husband William died on March 13th 1892 at 185 Humberstone Road, Leicester.
Death - November 5th 1895 Ann Jane Chettle, aged 64, Leicester.
