The Sampler that came home after 178 years
The power of the Internet
In August 2018 I was contacted by email by a stranger who had seen a Victorian sampler in an auction. He taken the name on the Sampler and Googled it and found my Family Tree and he could see that was made in 1840 by my Great Great Grandmother aged 12 years old. Hannah Armstrong.
The Sampler is in its original frame with original uneven wavy glass and is in stunning condition. I was fortunate enough to bring the Sampler back home and it now sits pride of place our wall.
Hannah Elizabeth Armstrong married Frederick Rodney Chettle in 1865 at St Mary de Castro in Leicester. They had two Children:
Grace Chettle born 1866 Rothley
Frederick William Chettle born 1869 Rothley
